John Wallace is the Philip Hallen Chair in Community Health and Social Justice at the University of Pittsburgh's School of Social Work, visiting Associate Professor at the University of Michigan's School of Social Work, and a Faculty Associate at the Institute for Social Research. He earned his BA from the University of Chicago in 1987 and his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 1991. From 1992 to 1994 he was a National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow. His research has appeared in a number of professional journals, books and monographs. His current research focuses on racial/ethnic and gender disparities in drug use; the role of religion as a protective factor against adolescent problem behaviors; and community-based participatory research methods.
